Map data

The airport maps (runways, taxiways, buildings, water, roads and helipads) are drawn from OpenStreetMap. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence (ODbL) 1.0.

The game's airport files are derived from that data and are themselves made available under the ODbL. You're free to download, use and share them on the same terms: download all airport map files (zip). It contains every airport's map (one JSON file each), the terrain files, and the licence.

Holding-area and exit positions for Heathrow, San Francisco and New York JFK are approximations of published arrival and departure fixes, placed for gameplay.

Terrain

The mountains and hills at Innsbruck, Lukla, Courchevel, Paro, Queenstown and St Barths are drawn from the Copernicus digital elevation model (GLO-30), smoothed into a few height bands. Produced using Copernicus WorldDEM-30 © DLR e.V. 2010-2014 and © Airbus Defence and Space GmbH 2014-2018 provided under COPERNICUS by the European Union and ESA; all rights reserved. Peak names and heights © OpenStreetMap contributors. The terrain files are in the map files zip too. The no-fly heights are simplified for the game and are not real minimum safe altitudes.

Not affiliated, and not real

Local Traffic ATC is an independent game. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any airport, airline, aircraft manufacturer or air navigation service provider. Airport names are used only to say where each game takes place.

Sounds

All sound effects are recordings released into the public domain (CC0 1.0) on Freesound, cut and mixed for the game. Attribution isn't required, but thank you to:

Logo type

The Local Traffic ATC wordmark is set in Lato by Łukasz Dziedzic, used under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

Unlocking all airports

Some airports may need an optional one-time unlock; the free airports and today's challenge never do. The unlock is a one-off payment, not a subscription, and works on up to 5 devices; you can free up a device from Settings. Polar sells it on our behalf and handles receipts, taxes and refunds; a refunded key stops working. Your key is in your Polar purchase: your receipt email links to it, and you can find it again any time in Polar's customer portal by signing in with the email you bought with. Clearing your browser's site data removes the unlock from that device; enter your key again to restore it.

Terms

The game is free to play (with an optional one-time unlock for more airports), provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, and may change or go offline at any time. Please don't try to break, overload or misuse the site. The map data and sounds are licensed as described above. The game's code, artwork and name are © Local Traffic ATC; all rights reserved.
